Fresh faces to help the Yellow Shirts

Posted on: 18 February 2020, 9:27pm

BEFORE-school breakfasts have been a success with the Primary School kids and the proof is in the pancakes!

Student attendance reached more than 60% last week, and it could well be because the students are enjoying the hearty breakfasts by the Yellow Shirts each morning.
As well as the normal ham and cheese toasties and Weet-Bix, the addition of pancakes to the menu was welcomed by the children.
Last week, the Yellow Shirts delivered brekky out in the community living areas while a team from the Primary School engaged with children and their families who were low in their attendance.
The spate of low and no attendances has stretched the Yellow Shirts to the limit.
But now with the employment of new team members – our numbers are almost back to full capacity.
We welcome the new recruits and the return of some of our former members.
Papulu Apparr-Kari Aboriginal Corporation still maintains a 100% Indigenous employment standard – and all of these employees are local residents.
Parents remember: If you don’t want the Yellow Shirts on your doorstep because your children aren’t going to school – then send them to school or notify them if they are sick or away from town.
