THE Papulu Apparr-kari team has recently been involved in several events and activities over the last month to encourage school attendance, school holiday activities, NAIDOC Week and celebrating the unique languages and cultures of this great country.
Prior to school finishing for the school term, PAK hosted a NAIDOC Week event at the Primary School to celebrate Indigenous languages.
Students took part in a range of activities including painting boomerangs and native animals, listening to stories, solving puzzles, watching presentations about local languages and just to make things a bit more fun – there were games and races on the oval.
A great time was had by all and plans are underway to hold a similar event in the near future to celebrate this year being the International Year of Indigenous Languages.
The school holiday program kicked off with activities at Youthlinx where staff worked to ensure children were engaged and active in the mornings and well fed for them to enjoy the rest of the afternoon.
During the week’s activities the children built scarecrows of an RSAS worker and a child they entered into the Tennant Creek Show’s scarecrow competition.
Even though they missed out on winning a place – the fun of creating them was a highlight of the holiday activities.
School starts back next week and the PaCE and RSAS teams will be out and about to ensure all children have access and attend school every day.
