Papulu Apparr-Kari staff and the members of the Tennant Creek Student Attendance Officer (SAO) team travelled to Elliott recently to attend the Elliott School Open Day.
The day was a celebration of regular school attendance with Elliott School staff, community and the Elliott SAO team. The event was organised by the Elliott School
and was highly attended by community members, parents, caregivers and service providers. The large crowd was treated to performances by the children and everyone had a great time as they sifted through stalls and took part in
activities. As an extra thank you to the students for achieving very high school attendance for the second term this year, the Papulu Apparr-Kari team presented each child with a gift bag full of items for them to enjoy.
Josiah Nugget-Jackson, Miranda Bill and Lane Jackson have done a great job, with the help of Barkly Regional Council Night Patrol and IEO Joshua Jackson, for the students to obtain and maintain over 90 per cent attendance record. Anita Mayers, General Manager of Papulu Apparr-Kari (PAK), said she was impressed with the volume of family and caregivers who attended the Open Day.
Chief Executive Officer of PAK commended the family event. “Elliott was a great example of how when all community members working together to get kids to school and encouraging a better education for our future leaders,” said Ms Hayward.
“The community should all be very proud of the work they do in ensuring their kids go to school.”
